Our position on the South Coast boasts an uncommercial waterside setting with three lovely beaches to choose from - Stokes Bay, Lee on Solent and Hill Head. Visitors have numerous opportunities: to go on lovely walks in a truly beautiful setting, enjoy a lazy day on the beach or perhaps spend an evening at the local wine bar or bistro admiring the yachts, cruise ships and wind surfers on the water.

Hampshire is a popular holiday area, with tourist attractions including its many seaside resorts, the maritime area in Portsmouth and the motor museum at Beaulieu. The New Forest National Park lies within the borders, as does a large area of the South Downs which is scheduled to become a National Park.

Hampshire has a long maritime history and two of England's largest ports lie on its coast. The county is famed as home of the writers Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

Hampshire enjoys a milder climate than most areas of the British Isles, being in the far south it benefits from the climate stabilising effect of the sea and protected against the more extreme weather of the Atlantic coast. In 2006 Gosport came third in a survey of the sunniest places in the UK! (source: Halifax - Quality of Life Survey).
